Towards Relational Design

Towards Relational Design
Andrew Blauvelt, in his Towards Relational Design Manifesto, shares the Modern Design in three phases. Blauvelt began to theorize the emerging design movement that showed a progression towards relational sensitivity. He describes the relational design as something that extends beyond the shape of the design object and the their corresponding meanings and symbolisms. Relational Design offers a process of building a dialogue between the perception, reaction and intervention of various actors, both creators and recipients.

In the first phase of the exercise I decided to emphasize the word “design” by dividing the rest of the sentence in three blocks placing them apart from each other.
In the second phase of the exercise, it was requested to make a foldout. On the front, I designed a poster where I wanted to create something that remind the Relational Design database scheme. For that I linked the letters of the words among themselves, in a schematic order. On the back, there’s some parts of the Andrew Blauvelt Manifest, without removing its meaning. For better understanding of Relational Design, there’s a simple explanation I got from a support text available by the teachers.
